Knit Flix

This is a compilation of films with knitting as a theme or even some mention of knitting or crochet. This will not be a listing of knitting how-to videos/DVDs. My lord, that would be too long, need to be constantly updated and, well, Amazon can do that better than me.  All of these are pretty much available on Amazon and maybe I’ll put the Amazon links up in the future. Any other suggestions to add to this listing? Please comment below or send suggestions to (change the AT to fool the spambots). Thanks.

The core of this list was compiled by Angel Hair Yarn Company . Please visit their site for yarn, materials, and great information. I have updated and added lots more to this list.

Amazing list, sadly not all of the movies have a description. I’m looking for a movie around 70s where they are like five or four women knitting in a house telling love stories and how they met their husbands all with what thwy were knitting. One of them for example had sex in a cornfield something like that

I love in The Letter how Bette Davis’s character’s intricate crocheted lace grows bigger and bigger, just like her web of lies.

And in Seven Year Itch toward the end of the movie it looks like Richard is wearing the argyle socks his wife was knitting earlier in the movie.

Here’s a couple of more titles–

War and Peace — Audrey Hepburn knits as she’s sitting at Andre’s bedside before he dies

In The Greatest Show on Earth there’s a shot of a woman in the audience knitting at the circus.

And also in The Women Norma Shearer’s character’s mother is knitting as they discuss their husbands’ affairs.

In Holiday ( Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant) Ms Hepburn is knitting in one scene

That was SHELLEY Winters in The Poseidon Adventure, not Shirley. Winter’s real name, though, was Shirley Schrift, and her mother’s maiden name was Winter.
